What is the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?
Usually, these terms both refer to "talking therapy" where a client and counsellor/psychotherapist meet regularly and the therapy takes place through the interactions between them in the session.
Many aspects are similar, but in general terms, Counselling refers to therapy where most interactions are around the client's consciously experienced thoughts and feelings; Psychotherapy where interactions also involve thoughts and feelings which the client may hold at a less consciously aware level.
In practice, most sessions involve both levels. Often, the longer the therapy progresses, the more proportion of time is spent looking at the less conscious ("unconscious") aspects.
